Hammerson had outgrown their space in Grosvenor Square and wanted to use the move as an opportunity to embrace a new brand identity that would embody their values and their vision of creating leading global retail destinations.
With a portfolio that includes The Bull Ring, Birmingham and Brent Cross Shopping Centre in London, they wanted a space that would live and breathe retail and would act as a showcase facility where their employees, stakeholders and clients could experience their retail network and their sustainability commitments.
EDGE, the Client’s Architect, placed the Hammerson brand at the heart of the brief and their retail DNA is reflected within the new 24,000 sq ft HQ.
We delivered the strip out and enabling works, dividing the floor and services to accommodate a sublet tenant. Modifications to the existing services were required to meet the new demands of the space.
We collaborate with our clients and work with them to deliver projects at the best price. During this project we held client workshops to help value engineer elements while ensuring the design concept was not diluted. Product selection was key throughout the project and all elements were considered for their environment impact, ensuring sustainability. This commitment and dedication to sustainability throughout the project was reflected in the workplace achieving a SKA gold rating.
The fit out incorporates EDGE’s concept to ensure that all visitors connect with the business and are taken on a journey throughout the interior, from the oak panelling in reception that runs throughout the space – designed to give the impression of a barcode – to the feature ceiling that references the exterior cladding of the Bull Ring shopping centre; this space truly immerses you in Hammerson’s vision.
We installed the spectacular ceiling which is formed of 2000 tubes that were all cut at different lengths so that once installed the ceiling would form a wave. With 90 lights and infinity mirrors to emphasise the space.
With the addition of breakout areas, a café and a 3,000 sq ft terrace available to both staff and clients, there is a real focus on flexibility and collaboration in an environment that represents our client with a balance of professionalism and vibrancy.
